Opposition leaders: AFP, China hiding truth about harassment of Filipino fisherfolk

House Deputy Minority leader and Bayan Muna Rep. Carlos Isagani Zarate on Friday, February 5 accused China and the Armed Forces of the Philippines of collusion in hiding from the public the harassment of fisherfolk at the West Philippine sea and this includes the case of fisherman Larry Hugo.

Bayan Muna chairman Neri Colmenares supported Zarate’s claim, saying that the harassment of Filipino fisherfolk by China’s coast guard and militia have been happening for years.
Both Zarate and Colmenares said some of these incidents have been documented.
The two opposition leaders were commenting on the claim of Navy Rear Admiral Ramil Enriquez, commander of the Western Command, that Hugo’s claim of harassment by the Chinese near the Kalayaan Group of Islands may be false. ....
