Barcelona captain and two-time Ballon d’Or winner Alexia Putellas will undergo knee surgery this week, her club confirmed on Tuesday. Putellas, 29, has not featured since being withdrawn at half-time in Barcelona’s Champions League win over Benfica on 14 November and has missed her club side’s last seven matches.
