Councilors approved the ordinance rezoning some 60 acres off Gracelawn Road, updated septic design standards and an increase in minimum lot size for developments in the watershed.
In a first reading, the council approved a new septic design standard and rezoned 60 acres of land off Gracelawn Road owned by John Gendron.
The changes, some of which have been previously discussed by city officials, were recommended by the Lake Auburn Water Quality ad-hoc committee.
The Maine Drinking Water Program said a conservative boundary can be established with current data, but that further investigation would be needed to establish a boundary closer to Lake Auburn. The owner of the property plans to conduct the additional testing.
