General Atomics’ aeronautical systems business has secured a one-year, $43.1 million cost-plus-fixed-fee order from the U.S. Navy under a previously issued basic ordering agreement to deliver a range of MQ-9A drone support services for the Marine Corps. The Department of Defense said Thursday GA-ASI will provide engineering, logistics support, capability development and sustainment services in support of the Marine Air-Ground Task Force Unmanned Aircraft System Expeditionary/Medium Altitude Long Endurance MQ-9A.

“I won't go into details of the nature of that drone for security reasons,” Pat Conroy told reporters in Canberra. "But I want to assure everyone in this country that we are spending lots of time working on drones." 

General Atomics' aeronautical systems division and the U.S. Air Force Special Operations Command have showcased various capabilities in a concept development initiative aimed at enabling AFSOC to project air power using unmanned systems from beyond the horizon. The Adaptive Airborne Enterprise demonstrations involved proving the viability of the AFSOC RPA Control Suite in managing the MQ-9A drone for future integration efforts to incorporate the MQ-9B platform into the ARCS, General Atomics said Monday.

The Biden administration reportedly pushed New Delhi to approve the deal on its end ahead of a state visit by Indian leader Narendra Modi in June.
