The Grafton Street business was one of the last independent meat shops in the region. Saturday marked the last day, news the store shared with workers in the morning. The store shut its doors for good at 3 p.m. Brothers George and Jack Sigel have run the family business for many years. It opened in 1946. Generations of Worcester families have stocked their refrigerators and freezers with meat, chicken and deli supplies from Fairway. Holiday meal preparation often included a stop at Fairway.
