Incumbent Antioch Mayor Larry Hanson is trailing in his bid to win another term in a three-way race.
Attorney and entrepreneur Scott Gartner holds an early lead with 904 votes to Hanson s 500 and 206 for Stacy Ellis.
Hanson, who served 14 years as village trustee before being elected Antioch mayor in 2009, is seeking a fourth term. Ellis is the widow of Illinois State Trooper Gerald Jerry Ellis, who was killed two years ago by a drunken driver.

The three candidates for mayor in Antioch agree incentives are necessary to attract business, but one challenger says the deal for a key project downtown raises eyebrows.
Longtime incumbent Larry Hanson defended the incentive package for Rivalry Alehouse after challenger Scott Gartner described it as controversial because of the involvement of sitting Trustee Jerry Johnson.
If there s no public relations around it or no communication, then people just assume something nefarious is going on, Gartner said.
Hanson bristled at the suggestion, saying two other potential developments for the former Flo s Family Hair Care on the southern gateway to downtown fell through before Johnson and two local partners came to the table.

The race for mayor in Antioch has tightened to three candidates after a strategic action by one of the challengers.
Trustee Mary Dominiak, who entered the campaign in September to unseat longtime Mayor Larry Hanson, withdrew from the race this week, citing her original reason for running.
I went into it because I thought it was time for new leadership and fresh vision, she said Friday. The conventional wisdom is that multiple candidates favor the incumbent, so I wouldn t achieve my goal.
