The Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute, part of Grand Blanc-based McLaren Health Care and a National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, in conjunction with Wayne State University, have named Boris C. Pasche, MD, PhD, FACP, President & Chief Executive Officer and Chair of the Department of Oncology at the Wayne State University School of Medicine.

Wayne State and the Karmanos Cancer Institute plan to construct an estimated $450-million research complex consisting of two towers.

The project includes two towers that will house up to 100,000 square feet of cancer research space, including wet labs, population research offices, clinical trials offices and education and outreach departments, on a site that is yet to be determined in Midtown near both organizations.
