Vietnam has been named one of five ideal places worldwide to enjoy the New Year with family and friends by Australian travel newspaper The Sydney Morning Herald, according to Radio the Voice of Vietnam.
The airport project will be carried out under a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) contract, with its preparation and construction expected to take two years.
A ceremony was held in Dong Ha city in the central province of Quang Tri on December 15 to launch a project to build an airport in the province.
The Quang Tri industrial park will cover an area of 481 hectares in Hai Lang District, while the airport will span over 316 hectares in Gio Linh District
The airport, when wholly completed in 2050, will receive five million passengers and 25,500 metric tons of cargo per year
