aspirational, not specifically in the works. as for the home grown extremists, those already right here in the united states, the intelligence estimates say this date, this anniversary so to speak may hold some value to them, but they don t think it is enough to make them accelerate their plots. in other words, if they got some plat and they re on a timetable, they re not going to scrap their timetable just to make this deadline. okay. chris lawrence in the piers morgan. appreciate it. . once it has absolutely nothing to do with abortion, birth control or gay marriage. this is about the budget, specifically the one created by republican congressman paul ryan that passed the house. today ryan who is catholic spoke at the georgetown university. the reception he received was a bit chilly. ryan claims his faith guided his budget cuts, but nearly 90 of the school s faculty members and priests sent him a letter ahead of the appearance telling ryan he better go back and read his
syria today. it is supposed to observe, and therefore, discourage the government s brutal crackdown on its own people. a crackdown that seems to be in full force despite a promise to the arab league just last week. this is amateur video reportedly from the flash point city of homs. the opposition says 22 people have been killed here today alone. the global intelligence website stratfor is still down after hackers stole thousands of client names. a group called anonymous says it has no brief with stratfor who it considers an unbiased source for information. stratfor is in the business of providing geopolitical information the way the sort of state department does about political climate, on a very granular realtime basis. both to the general public in a more broadway an more specifically in their e-mails that people pay for. so in a sense they are in the security business, so that makes them kind of a ripe target for headline purposes, i guess. stratfor says it is dilige
continues. we will see t. j. holmes from new york on 9/11 as well. on sunday, yes. and you are in now for randi kaye. yeah, and i will see you tomorrow. what is your show called, the saturday afternoon we re just here. let s stick with the news room, how about that. you at least got the cnn part right. got that right, okay. i am in for randi kaye at the top of the hour here. new yorkers have been through a lot and have seen a lot. here we go. something else they have to deal with and something else they have to see. police check points set up all around the city in response in response to what is being called, a credible and specific, but not a confirmed threat. shatter among security officials talk about three individuals that might be involved. one of them a u.s. citizen. not known if they are actually in the country yet. and also a bulletin put out said the attackers could be using a truck or carloaded with explosives. they warn small arms or poisons could be u
and toothpicks, and then some people saying i don t want to try the cake because my mouth will get hurt. that s what is going on. this is something that we have been seeing over the last few weeks. is this really any different than the turmoil we have been witnessing? i think ali is spot on. you think back to just before the huge selloff and volatility last week, we had our own numbers that showed we had almost no growth. we have a new manufacturing number today, a regional manufacturing number that really hit investors hard. some analysts say it s a reliable number because it s a fresher number. this number is about manufacturing in august. the index was actually at one of the low points, and the drop was what analysts call stunning and saying it never has been this low without leading to a recession. when you hear things like that, especially with manufacturing considered one of the engines of growth in this country, that s also why you see investors sell at this point.
bare bones bargain. if not, payments to critters, bill payments, you name it, there is not enough income to cover all that. every month we come up $125 billion short. if we cannot borrow to bridge the cap, 40% of the monthly obligations could not be paid, and that could include social security checks due to go out on august 3rd. the stakes we just laid out are monumental, so both sides have to give ground and risk their jobs for the good of the country. what is so hard about that, right? joining me with their insights on conflict resolution are cnn contributor, pete dominic, and family law attorney, mrs. winestein. what does it take for two entrenched parties to agree on a deal that both need? well, you know, the obvious is that you take the emotion out of the room and you try to deal with the practical. what we deal with is the practical and not the legal when we re trying to negotiate this. they re trying to take the politics out of the room and get to a solution that can
