Pope Francis' trip to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and South Sudan for an "ecumenical peace pilgrimage" is scheduled to be held from January 31 to February 5, 2023.
This will be the 20th papal visit to Africa but only the fourth by Pope Francis.
New schedule excludes North Kivu region where the Pope initially planned to visit, and which is currently facing renewed conflict.
