ANC veteran and billionaire businessman Tokyo Sexwale wanted jobless people who qualified for the R350 Social Relief of Distress grant to earn more than the old-age grant pensioners and some of the domestic workers in the country.
Sexwale made the shocking revelations this week when he gave a detailed account of his reasons to open a criminal case with the Hawks against undisclosed individuals linked to the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) who allegedly stole billions of rand of donor funds belonging to an unknown oligarch reportedly based in Singapore.

Heritage Trust Fund: 'I'm left high and dry' - Tokyo Sexwale

Tokyo Sexwale insisted the Heritage Trust Fund was real, despite National Treasury and the Reserve Bank saying he had been scammed.
Sexwale refused to say how much he was to be paid for acting as a political broker for the fund.
The Hawks said a case of fraud, alternatively theft, was opened with regard to the so-called Heritage Fund.
Businessman Tokyo Sexwale refused to disclose how much money he would have been paid by a "Heritage Trust Fund", if he had succeeded in using his political connections to persuade the South African government to take loans from the fund, rather than the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

National Treasury and the South African Reserve Bank (Sarb) have dismissed claims by businessman and ANC veteran Tokyo Sexwale that “billions” of rand raised for a so-called “heritage fund” had been “stolen”.
Sexwale, who made the claim on eNCA on Sunday, said the money raised would have been used for addressing an array of social ills like the paying off of student debt and providing Covid-19 relief.

Allegations made by Mr Tokyo Sexwale on alleged billions that have been deposited at the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) points to a common scam.
Over the years, National Treasury and the SARB have received many such requests for, or promises, of billions (and now trillions) of rands or dollars, and from experience regard these as simply scams. Any claim that such funds are meant for deserving causes such as Covid-19 relief, social grants or grants for free education are simply empty promises, to secure the interest of the potential victim.

Johannesburg - The National Treasury and the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) have dismissed claims by ANC veteran and businessman Tokyo Sexwale that he was instrumental in depositing billions of rand at the central bank to help poor university students.
Sexwale made the claims during an eNCA talk show Truth to Power hosted by JJ Tabane in which he said that he raised billions of rands and that the funds in question were channelled to the central bank in 2016.
According to Sexwale, former president Jacob Zuma and incumbent President Cyril Ramaphosa were aware of the funds which he said were meant for free education of poor students.

JOHANNESBURG - The South African Reserve Bank and National Treasury have on Monday responded to claims by businessperson and former Gauteng Premier Tokyo Sexwale that billions of rands destined for the so-called Heritage Fund had been 'pilfered'.
During an interview on eNCA, Sexwale confirmed the existence of the Heritage Fund, saying, "Yes, I am part of two people who are in charge of the Heritage Fund that belongs to a very powerful family out there in the world. This fund is here in South Africa already. It comes through the South African Reserve Bank. I am part of two people that are mandate holders for that fund. The fund is able to help the students with free education in this country. [Jacob] Zuma knew about the fund in 2016. Cyril [Ramaphosa] knew about the fund at that time."
