Cleveland Public Theatre Unveils New Season, Continuing Pre-Pandemic Productions

The 2021-22 season continues the world premiere of "Breakout Session (or Frogorse)," which was slated to finish its run before the coronavirus pandemic. The play examines the topic of an anti-bias training session. Executive Artistic Director Raymond Bobgan says, with so much change in America over the past 18 months, the production is being updated by its playwright, Nikkole Salter.
Cleveland Public Theater has announced its upcoming season, which picks up where it left off before the coronavirus pandemic.
The Gordon Square-based theater will present “Breakout Session (or Frogorse),” which examines the subject of police bias. It was slated to close the 2019-2020 season, before the pandemic. Now, it’s been updated by the playwright ahead of its return this October.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Had it not been for the pandemic, theatergoers in Northeast Ohio might be talking about that performance of “The Cher Show” they just saw at Playhouse Square, or making plans to see the Great Lakes Theater’s production of “Agatha Christie’s Black Coffee” at the Hanna this weekend.
Instead, theatres across the region remain dark for the 49th consecutive week. But there is light at the end of the tunnel.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- While Cleveland Public Theatre waits for live, in-person shows to resume, the company has put together a winter season of continuing and new virtual performances for the winter.
The lineup will allow CPT, the winner of the National Theatre Conference’s 2020 Outstanding Theatre Award, to fulfill its mission of “raising consciousness and nurturing compassion through theatre that is daring, relevant, and socially conscious” amid the ongoing pandemic, the Gordon Square-based theatre said in a press release.
