Speaking on Citizen TV on Thursday, May 6, 2021, Otiende said Raila had nothing to do with his removal, adding that they frequently talk with the former PM.

Only a deliberate political intervention would save the ailing sugar sector from collapse, Council of Governors chairman Wycliffe Oparanya says.
The sector, which is an economic mainstay for many Western and Nyanza residents and those in parts of Rift Valley and Coast, Oparanya noted, could only be revived via a political solution.
The Kakamega governor who is serving his second and last term noted that the sugar taskforce report which had been touted to offer a solution to problems bedevilling the industry had failed.
The long-awaited report that was handed over to President Uhuru last year, Oparanya said, failed because of numerous court cases. ....

Kenya Union of Clinical Officers (KUCO) General Secretary George Gibore has told his colleagues that the strike is still ongoing and that they should not be cowed by threats of disciplinary action from the Council of Governors (COG).
Since the start of the year, COG has remained adamant about signing a return-to-work formula that would be the final elixir to the health crisis and send clinical officers back to work.
On Wednesday, COG chair Wycliffe Oparanya ordered the nurses to go back to work, saying that their strike was declared illegal in court. Oparanya has also defended the Council s stand on not signing the return-to-work formula on their absence in the agreement process between the Union and Health Ministry. ....

Kakamega County has unveiled Community Area Councils that seeks to decentralise services to grassroots level.
At least 8,000 people drawn from 12 sub-counties have been appointed to serve in the inaugural Councils that act as links between the executive and residents in villages.
The new employees are equivalent to village elders in the national government’s provincial administrations set-up.
The Councils’ mandate will be advising the county in five key areas in line with the Kakamega County Decentralised Units (Amendment) Act, 2016.
