The state-owned utility's board of directors approved the transfer of the former Grainger Generating Station and Lake Busbee to the City of Conway Monday.

South Carolina utility Santee Cooper intends to transfer 808 acres that once held a coal-fired power plant to the city of Conway. City officials plan to convert the property into a recreation spot that includes a new marina, an inland beach and possibly a hotel.
