Melbourne Victory CEO Trent Jacobs to depart

Jacobs said the time was right for him to move on after 13 years at the club - the last three of which was spent as CEO - with head coach Tony Popovic arriving in July on a three-year deal with a licence to effectively overhaul the Victory.
"With a refresh of our football department due to occur when Tony Popovic takes the helm for next season, now is the right time to depart the club as it heads towards a new era both on and off the pitch," Jacobs said.
"It has been a very difficult 14 months, in particular through COVID-19, and after reflecting over the past few weeks I made the difficult decision not to continue in the chief executive role.

Caretaker Kean keen on points - not Popa's preferences

Popovic was named as the eighth full-time coach of Victory last week; club chairman Anthony Di Pietro declaring he would be "responsible for the entire A-League program overseeing support staff, recruitment, list management and our A-League playing style and performance,” upon his contract's commencement in July.
Installed as caretaker following the ousting of Grant Brebner, Kean was in the main chair of the dugout for the second time on Tuesday evening as Victory fell to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Big Blue rivals Sydney FC.
Rivalry defeats are never fun but, given it came without the services of the suspended Callum McManaman, Jake Brimmer, Robbie Kruse, and Adama Traotre and injured Ryan Shotton and Marco Rojas, the performance defied the low expectations that were carried into the contest by pundit and Victory fans alike.
