The Lego Group has announced a project manager and main contractor for its $1bn factory project in the US state of Virginia, but said the main construction phase would begin a year later than originally planned.
While it has the construction team in place, the Danish toymaker now expects to start production as the factory in 2027, rather than 2025 as initially announced.
Lego announced a project lead and general contractor for their $1 billion Chesterfield site, but also said the facility would reach full production about 12 months later than originally planned.
The manufacturing facility plans call for 13 buildings totaling 1.7 million sq ft on a 340-acre site in Chesterfield County, Va., outside Richmond.
