Election With less than a week to go before election day, County Clerk Liz Ann Woodrow says early and mail in voting is picking up though not to 2020 levels. It started slow, but Woodrow says there's reason for that. Compared to 2020, that's nearly a third fewer early vote ballots cast, but quadruple the number of vote by mail ballots requested. The Fairfield City Council The Fairfield City Council met for their regular meeting last night with all members present. Although there were only 3 agenda items to be addressed, discussion on some of the items was lengthy. The council reviewed a proposed ordinance regarding the placement of storage containers on residential property. This issue was briefly discussed at the last meeting with City Attorney Darren Rice instructed to draft a proposed ordinance. The University of Louisiana Monroe held the first Criminal Defense Project Training session on September 30, 2022. This all-day training session was for any public defender in Louisiana, as well as social workers, investigators, and any interested students. The training session was led by ULM Adjunct Professor Bob Noel, who taught “The Fundamentals of Direct and Cross-Examination.” More than 50 attendees from across the state attended the session in the ULM Mock Trial Courtroom.
