Listed pub owner and operator Redcape Hotel Group has extended its post-COVID buying spree, after snapping up O’Donoghues Hotel in Penrith in western Sydney for $31 million amid a flood of new deals in the fast-recovering sector.
Alongside the acquisition of the large-format Irish-themed pub – the group's fourth purchase since November – Redcape said it expected earnings for the six months to December 2020 to be ahead of what it delivered in the prior half-year period despite higher compliance costs due to the pandemic, and declared an interim distribution of 1.83 cents per security.
O'Donoghue's Hotel was sold by long-term owners FAL Hotels.

All the new coronavirus-hit venues NSW residents need to be wary of

An urgent health alert has been issued for a bottle shop, a used car dealer and an Officeworks as NSW recorded seven new coronavirus infections on Saturday.
Five of the new cases are from western and south-western Sydney and are linked to the Berala cluster, which now totals seven with the original source of infection a man in his 40s.
Chief Health Officer Kerry Chant said there have been a number of venues exposed to coronavirus in the area, which is of 'concern' to officials.
Dr Chant said NSW Health is worried about the 'potential transmission risks' at the BSW in Berala (pictured). Anyone who visited the bottle shop between Tuesday December 22 and Thursday December 31 inclusive is advised to check if they were at the shop during specific exposure dates and times

NSW racing to contain virus spread as ACT restricts travel from NSW hotspots

NSW contact tracers are racing to contain the coronavirus spread after three cases were recorded linked to western Sydney.
It comes as the ACT restricts the arrival of non-residents coming from a NSW COVID-19 hotspot.
People from Sydney's northern beaches, Greater Sydney, the Central Coast and Wollongong will not be legally permitted to enter the ACT without a valid pass.
Any travellers from these regions into the ACT for "extraordinary circumstances" are required to apply for an exemption at least three days prior to the planned entry but no more than 14 days ahead of time.

Coronavirus live: Hillsong alert and one new Queensland case

Victoria has recorded 10 new locally acquired cases of coronavirus, including two cases that tested positive in NSW.
The 10 cases doubles the 5 new locally acquired cases reported on Friday, the first day of 2021.
It comes as a man and a woman from NSW allegedly "fled" from officers at Melbourne Airport after arriving on a flight from Canberra at around 11am on Friday.
The 26-year-old man and 24-year-old woman normally reside in NSW.
After being spoken to by officers at the airport they were informed they'd have to quarantine for 14 days, at which point they allegedly ran from the officer, and were picked up by a vehicle that took them away from the airport.

New South Wales records seven new coronavirus cases

Greater Sydney residents will have to wear masks inside or face a $200 fine as the state recorded another seven new locally-acquired coronavirus cases on Saturday.
Five of the new cases are linked to the Berala cluster in western Sydney, one is a household contact of a previously reported case - a patient transport worker - and there is one remaining case under investigation.
There were almost 32,000 coronavirus tests conducted in the 24-hour period to 8pm on Friday.
Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced masks for individuals over the age of 12 will be compulsory in certain indoor settings from midnight on Saturday.
This includes shopping centres, entertainment venues like the cinema, hair and beauty salons, on public transport, in places of worship, and gaming areas of establishments. Hospitality workers will also be required to wear masks.

As Victoria shuts its border with New South Wales at 11.59pm tonight, people queue up in the thousands in a last attempt to get through.
Health Minister Martin Foley asked motorists to be prepared for delays and to be patient. Anyone who is in border checkpoint queues at 11.59pm tonight will be let through, but anyone trying their luck in the morning will be denied.
