Energy bills set to rise by £96 a year for millions of households
Energy bills will rise for millions of households with most expected to see an increase of nearly £100 a year, in a time when many face financial difficulties. The energy price cap will rise to pre-pandemic levels for households, increasing by £96 to £1,138 for 11million default tariff customers, Ofgem has announced today. Bills will also increase by £87 to £1,156 for 4million pre-payment meter customers. The hike will come in on 1 April for six months with the changes blamed on a rise in wholesale energy prices.
