April 5, 2021 By Waterways Journal Richard “Dick” Lambert, long-time champion of the inland waterways, died March 20 at his home in Burnsville, Minn., after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 85. Born in St. Paul, Minn., he was the grandson of Col. George Lambert, an early advocate for the 9-foot channel project on the Upper Mississippi River, for whom Lambert’s Landing in St. Paul was named.
