The Leavenworth Times When they met Tuesday, members of the Leavenworth County Port Authority voted to request funding from the county government on behalf of the Leavenworth County Development Corporation. The Port Authority will request $87,143 in county funding for the LCDC. Leavenworth County commissioners traditionally allocate funding for both the Port Authority and LCDC. Steve Jack, executive director of the Leavenworth County Development Corporation, said he was informed in March that requests for this year’s county funding for LCDC should go through the Port Authority. The Port Authority is a quasi-governmental agency that focuses on economic development. Members of the Port Authority’s Board of Directors are appointed by the county government and the cities of Leavenworth, Lansing, Basehor and Tonganoxie. ....
The Leavenworth Times When they met Wednesday, Leavenworth County commissioners approved the allocation of $150,000 for a countywide transportation study. The request for the funding was made by Greg Kaaz, chairman of the Leavenworth County Port Authority. Last year, county commissioners tasked the Port Authority with overseeing a countywide transportation study. Kaaz said the study is needed to help secure future federal and state funding for road projects in the county. He said Julie Lorenz, secretary of the Kansas Department of Transportation, has stated Leavenworth County needs a transportation plan. Kaaz said he also has requested funding for the study from the governing bodies of the cities of Leavenworth, Lansing, Basehor and Tonganoxie. ....

Port Authority sells land for company to move to Leavenworth It looks like a Johnson County technology company may be moving to Leavenworth. Members of the Leavenworth County Port Authority Board of Directors voted Tuesday to approve the sale of a three-acre lot in the Gary Carlson Business Park. The lot is intended for the new location of Modern Advanced Print Solutions. According to the company’s website, MAPS is an “independent technology company featuring a comprehensive suite of leading imaging and printing products, services, software, and solutions.” The company currently is located in Lenexa. Company President and CEO Darrell W. Yoder said on the company’s website that “MAPS is well positioned for future growth and the next decade holds vast opportunities for MAPS to showcase our abilities to help our clients succeed in a complex world of data management.” ....
