Aussie troops return after humanitarian training mission

AUSTRALIAN troops will return to the country after a training exercise in Guam.
Forces from Australia, the United States and Japan came together at the annual trilateral Exercise Cope North held at the United States Andersen Air Force Base over the past month.
Townsville RAAF Commanding Officer of the 383 Squadron Wing Commander Alan Brown served as the Deputy Commander of the Multinational Task Force as it rehearsed humanitarian assistance and disaster relief scenarios.
More than 2000 military personnel and 95 aircraft participated in the exercise.
Wing Commander Brown said despite coronavirus limitations and language barriers troops from participating nations were able to fully integrate their teams. ....

Forces from Australia, the United States and Japan have successfully completed the annual trilateral Exercise Cope North.
The exercise was held at the United States’ Andersen Air Force Base in Guam from 3 to 19 February 2021.
Commander of the Australian Task Group, Group Captain Nathan Christie said Exercise Cope North demonstrates our shared commitment and vision for a secure and stable Indo-Pacific region.
“This exercise is an important opportunity for our three nations, individually and collectively, to develop our capability to deliver air and space power as part of a combined and interoperable force,” Group Captain Christie said.
“Equally, as the world continues to grapple with the effects of COVID-19 and a range of natural disasters, exercises such as Cope North enhance our collective humanitarian assistance and disaster relief preparedness. ....

US, Australia, Japan Conduct Cope North 21 Military Exercises on Guam
The United States, Australia, and Japan are conducting trilateral military exercises on Guam as the allies look to strengthen joint response times to counter growing threats from China and Russia in the Indo-Pacific region.
The Cope North 21 exercises will bring together more than 2,000 military personnel at Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, along with approximately 95 aircraft from the three nations.
Group Capt. Nathan Christie, the Australian commander for Exercise Cope North 21, said the allies will conduct combat-readiness exercises, procedures for humanitarian aid, and disaster relief operations.
Led this year by the Koku-Jieita (Japan Air Self-Defense Force), the U.S. Pacific Air Forces command has said the exercise will reflect real-world threats and scenarios, and focus on reestablishing combat air dominance in the region. ....
