France: Partouche sues insurance company as GGR falls 86 per cent

Groupe Partouche has confirmed it has sued its former insurance company, which is contesting its claim for operating losses compensation following the ban on its casinos from hosting its clientele.
With all French casinos closed during the first quarter, Partouche saw its Q1 revenue, from November 2020 to January 2021, plummet by 85.8 per cent down to €24.9m
Abroad, the casinos of Ostend (Belgium) and Meyrin (Switzerland) also remained closed. The casino of Crans-Montana in Switzerland was able to welcome its customers for a short period between December 14 and 26 2020 inclusive, on reduced hours between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. The Djerba casino in Tunisia remained open but with a curfew on its operating hours starting at 8 p.m. All revenue during the period came from foreign casinos and more particularly from Swiss online gaming, which started on November 16 2020, and Belgian online gaming and betting. Officials in Nagasaki Prefecture have reportedly announced that whoever is selected as the jurisdiction’s preferred operating partner for its envisioned integrated casino resort will be required to hand over more than $1.5 million to cover a multitude of costs.

In Japan and a local consortium known as The Niki and Chyau Fwu (Parkview) Group is reportedly now vying with four foreign rivals for the right to potentially operate the integrated casino resort being planned for Nagasaki Prefecture.
According to a report from Inside Asian Gaming, the Tokyo-headquartered entity is a joint enterprise of Asian construction giant The Hong Kong Parkview Group Limited and Japanese hotel operator The Niki Company Limited. French casino operator Groupe Partouche has reportedly announced that its aggregated gross gaming revenues for the twelve months to the end of October declined by some 21.8% year-on-year to €525.7 million ($635 million) as a direct result of ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
According to a report from G3Newswire, the Paris-headquartered firm is responsible for some 40 casinos spread across France including the 3.14 Casino in Cannes as well as the ‘outdoor’ Casino de La Ciotat just east of Marseille.
