Today is Presidents Day. I noted in checking through my past posts that my assigned date last year fell also on Presidents Day. In 2020, I wrote about presidential trivia. So rather than repeat, I’ll mention it briefly and move on. The federal holiday began as a commemoration of George Washington’s birthday, February 22, but now we celebrate on the third Monday in the month. The holiday takes place during the birth month of the country’s two most prominent presidents, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, and honors both, as well as other presidents. The holiday now never lands on a si...

It was hardly an earth-shattering event, true. But at a time when we are still seeing lockdowns and hotspots, it gave me a chance to celebrate being alive with two people I hadn’t physically seen in some time and to call on their friendship in a heartfelt chat.

But if called upon to portray a member of the Armed Forces on screen, many actors could draw from their own life experience. Some of history's biggest stars served their countries in times of war and peace. Some experienced combat, while others were stationed in friendly countries or at home. What's on My MS 'To-Don't' List | Everyday Health

Laura Stolfi/Stocksy To pass the time during this third wave of COVID-19, I’ve found myself dipping in and out of several diddly little volumes. A bit of craic here, some sage advice there, and some mindlessly entertaining drivel now and again. Funny, it seemed to me, to find a sage bit of advice in a book called Grumpy Old Wit. Even more absurd was that the piece of wisdom passed off as “grumpy wit” was attributed to the management guru Tom Peters. “Create,” goes the quote, “a ‘to-don’t’ list that contains tasks, rituals, and meetings that you should never waste your time ...
