“The high rates of maternal morbidity and mortality in the United States are alarming and constitute a public health crisis as up to 60% of these deaths are preventable. As the primary government agency responsible for biomedical and public health research, the National Institutes of Health invests a large amount of its budget in maternal health. Together with other federal agencies, scientists from the research and academic institutes, we hope to shed more light on this public health problem and offer some directions for the future”, states Guest Editor Samia Noursi, PhD, Associate Director ....
