The district head of Bakori in Bakori Local Government Area, Alhaji Sule Idris, has been sacked by the Katsina State government for his alleged involvement in banditry activities. The Federal High Court in Gusau, Zamfara State, has nullified the Peoples Democratic Party's governorship primary election in the state. Justice Aminu Bappa also ruled that PDP would not field any candidate for the 2023 governorship election in the state. The primary had produced Dauda Lawal-Dare as the governorship candidate of party. It was nullified on the grounds of irregularities and non-compliance with the party's 2017 Constitution as well as its electoral guidelines for the conduct of elections.
Following the claims that the Zamfara State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Dr. Dauda Lawal submitted certificates with contradictory information to the Independent National Electoral Commission, the governorship candidate has debunked the allegations. There are allegations that the certificates have different names, dates of birth, and hometowns. Lawal refuted the claim in a statement issued by Dauda Lawal Media Office on Sunday, in which it described it as malicious falsehood and fake news aimed at blackmailing the PDP candidate.
