Posted On May 19, 2021 The Guinea Heritage Association has reinstated its weekly Saturday openings of the Buck’s Store Museum, beginning this week. The Guinea Heritage Association’s weekly Saturday openings will be reinstated at the Buck’s Store Museum, Bena. This Saturday, May 22, the GHA will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Buck’s Barbecue will be available; also crab cake sliders for $5. Lunch, eat in or take out, will be available from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The lunch combo includes a BBQ sandwich, chips and drink for $6. “It has been a long time and we want to get back to our concept of offering a community meeting place, whether new to area or a lifelong resident, come in and visit, learn a little history, and catch up on local news and maybe share a laugh,” said Ginny Snowden of the GHA. ....
Posted On April 22, 2021 The Guinea Heritage Association is now offering the Kenneth A. Hall Memorial Scholarship for 2021. Priority for awarding this new $5,000 scholarship will be given to applicants with a connection to the Guinea area of Gloucester County. Gloucester native Kenneth A. Hall Sr., a prominent business leader in the county, was the founder of Hall Automotive. This scholarship reflects his desire to give back to the Guinea community so that others can achieve their educational and career dreams, a release stated. Along with the new scholarship, GHA’s other three the Guinea Heritage Association Ltd. Scholarship, the C.B. Rowe Memorial Scholarship and the Mac Sisson Technical/Vocational Scholarship have all raised their awards up to $1,000. The date to apply for any of the scholarship has been extended to May 15. ....
