Writing on X (formerly Twitter), Garry Kasparov said that Gukesh's win was a further reflection of the changing trends in the world of chess and made a mention of how chess players from Viswanathan Anand's academy had started to make the right noises.
Referring to Gukesh D as The Iceman, Anand Mahindra forecasted a long and bright future for the 17-year-old Grandmaster and for chess, in the country.
Gukesh D became the youngest winner of the Candidates tournament held in Toronto, Canada, also becoming the youngest World Championship challenger and will face reigning champion Ding Liren from China later this year.
