The Kilauea volcano on Hawaii's Big Island erupted early on Wednesday morning and lava flows are currently confined to the surrounding crater floor, the US Geological Survey said on Wednesday.
The summit eruption continues at Kīlauea on Hawaiʻi Island. Initial lava flows inundated the crater floor spreading over 370 acres, and added about 32 feet in depth of new lava. Fountaining was last measured at about 13-30 high at multiple sites on the crater floor with one active fissure on the SW wall of the caldera.
