Volcanoes are always erupting somewhere on the planet, but in the past two weeks, two of the better-known have made eruptive re-appearances.

The USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory is lowering the Volcano Alert Level for ground-based hazards from WATCH to ADVISORY and the Aviation Color Code from ORANGE to YELLOW.

The eruption at Kilauea Volcano has been on pause for more than 48 hours and experts say it is unlikely to restart.

One expert called the early morning activity "sneaky." No communities were threatened.
