Body found in Halifax River in Daytona is 7th in Volusia County since April
This is the seventh body to be discovered in recent months in Volusia County. Police were called on Wednesday to a section of the river in the 1300 block of of North Halifax Avenue between Zelda and Golf boulevards where the body was found, said police spokesman Messod Bendayan. Officers retrieved the decomposed body and are working on identifying the dead man, Bendayan said. On June 20, Volusia County Sheriff’s Office investigators said the body of Kavon Jamal Banks, 35, was found near New Smyrna Beach on the side of State Road 415 near Lake Ashby Road.
