Melbourne based NH Architecture has been involved in the redevelopment of Melbourne Park for the past decade, designing interventions at different scales including Margaret Court Arena, Kia Arena, and CENTREPIECE. This latest stage of works reaffirms the ‘park’ in Melbourne Park and unifies the new public areas with the existing fabric of the precinct.
This year’s roster for the 2023 Sustainability Summit will see a suite of well-versed architectural professionals descending upon Sydney’s Allianz Stadium on the morning of 9 November in the lead up to the Sustainability Awards.
While many sporting venues are built for specific events such as the Olympics or the FIFA World Cup for instance, the master planning is focussed on delivering legacy value, ensuring the facility has purpose long after the event is over. Stadiums today are designed as mixed use integrated facilities delivering sporting, leisure, lifestyle, recreational and entertainment experiences, but they are also required to be built to international regulations and benchmarks.
Speaking about his firm’s 10-year association with the Melbourne Park project, Hamish explains that NH Architecture has been the masterplan architects for the precinct, and credits multiple stakeholders for their commitment to raise Melbourne Park to global benchmarks at every level from sustainability to best practice in universal design.
Hamish began his architectural career with the national Robin Boyd Medal, awarded under the chairmanship of pre-eminent Australian architect Glenn Murcutt.
