Nurses’ union called off indefinite strike late on Tuesday
The services at AIIMS were back to normal on Wednesday, after the AIIMS Nurses’ Union called off indefinite strike late on Tuesday, according to hospital authorities.
On Tuesday, the Delhi High Court restrained the union from continuing their agitation, following which the union ended it. The union had gone on a sudden strike from Monday afternoon against the hospital’s alleged decision to hire nursing officers on contractual basis.
On Tuesday, families of many patients said they were left stranded without treatment because of the strike. “Services are back to normal and nurses are back to duty,” an AIIMS spokesperson said on Wednesday. ....

New Delhi [India], December 15 (ANI): Country s apex healthcare facility has received a jolt as approximately 3,500 nursing strength of All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) halted their duty as a mark of protest against the administration for not fulfilling their demands with emphasis on Sixth Central Pay Commission.
In the face of the indefinite strike by nursing staff, patients families outside the emergency ward stand clueless about what is to be done.
Abhishek, a patient s family member outside the emergency ward, told ANI, We have not been allowed to meet our patient inside. We can see the nurses strike is going on. Liladhar Ramchandani, general secretary of DNF, stated that the issues raised by the nurses of AIIMS are not limited to them, but is a ground reality across the country.
The contractualisation of our jobs is snatching the dignity of our profession. The nurses are struggling to fulfil their various demands pending since the last 10 years, but still the ministry of health is not showing any interest in resolving genuine issues of the nurses.
