Western Cape Government and Hisense partner for new Tevolution Museum

Representatives of the governments of the Western, Northern and Eastern Cape agreed to cooperate on developing the green hydrogen economy in South Africa.

This morning, I met with Ukraine’s Ambassador to South Africa, Ms Liubov Abravitova, where we were joined by the Director-General of the Western Cape Government, Dr Harry Malila, and the Provincial Minister of Finance and Economic Opportunities, David Maynier.  This meeting follows a commitment made during a provincial cabinet earlier this week to engage with the Ambassador and share our unequivocal position that we strongly condemn the government of the Russian Federation for its illegal invasion of Ukraine.

This week, I received a briefing at the Provincial Disaster Management Centre detailing the province’s extensive preparations in place to ensure that we remain on the front foot in preventing fires at the Western Cape Government’s facilities. During the briefing, it was highlighted that the Western Cape Government has provided aerial support since 2011 to Municipalities, totalling R125 million through its ‘annual integrated wildfire support programme’.
