KARACHI: The country’s premier javelin thrower and Tokyo Olympics medal hope Arshad Nadeem’s return from Turkey has been delayed due to lockdown in Antalya.
However, he is hopeful that in a couple of days he will be able to get a flight.
“Here lockdown was imposed on April 29 and there is also a flight issue but I am hopeful in two or three days I will be able to get the flight back to Pakistan,” Arshad told ‘The News’ from Antalya on Sunday.
Athletics Federation of Pakistan’s (AFP) president Maj Gen (retd) Akram Sahi told The News they have made tentative reservation for Arshad and he will hopefully return on May 5. ....

KARACHI: As border restrictions have now been relaxed in Kazakhstan and flights have been resumed the Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) plans to send javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem there for training after Eid-ul-Fitr.
He will be imparted training by Kazakhstan’s coach Viktor Yevsyukov from whom Arshad is receiving training in Antalya, Turkey, these days.
However, the Turkey training stint will end on April 30 and Arshad will return.
The AFP will decide about the matter soon.
“Definitely the plan is there but we will decide it in a meeting in a few days after discussing the matter from various perspectives,” an AFP official told ‘The News’. ....

KARACHI: Aiming to add more to his strength ahead of this year’s Tokyo Olympics, Pakistan’s premier javelin thrower and Olympics medal hope Arshad Nadeem has started training under the Kazakhstan coach Viktor Yevsyukov, a former world silver medallist, in Turkey’s city Antalya.
On the third day on trot, he underwent training on Sunday. Arshad said that a few things have been added to his training.
“Viktor has added three to four new things to my training. It’s just the start and let’s see how we progress,” Arshad told ‘The News’ from Antalya on Sunday. ....

ISLAMABAD: The Executive Committee of Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) on Monday expressed its profound grief over the sad demise of Muhammad Arshad, Secretary of the Council, who passed away the other day due to COVID-19. The members of the Executive shared the grief with the bereaved family of Muhammad Arshad and prayed that All Almighty may bless the departed soul in eternal peace and give strength and fortitude to members of his family to bear the irreparable loss. The committee paid rich tributes to Muhammad Arshad in respect of his performance, saying he was very competent, devoted highly responsible official in discharging his duties.
