Charles G. Adams, retired pastor of Detroit’s influential Hartford Memorial Baptist Church, died Nov. 29 at age 86. He was a respected leader not only in Detroit but nationally, including longtime service on the board of Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty.
The retired pastor was a hugely influential and respected figure in Detroit's church community and beyond, as well as in various social movements.
As word of his passing spreads, the reverend Charles G. Adams is being remembered on Thursday as much more than a preacher.
Rev. Dr. Charles Gilchrist Adams, the Detroit pastor nationally-renowned for his thunderous sermons, passed away Wednesday at the age of 86.
