It may have “commerce” in its name, but the Greater Pasco Chamber of Commerce has more than business on its mind, and in its heart.

Liberty University hosted its first ever Deaf Field Day on the academic lawn Friday afternoon, coordinated through Liberty’s Office of Equity and Inclusion.

The Biden administration and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) finalized a rule that allows hearing aids to be sold over-the-counter. It could impact more than 30 million Americans who might not even realize hearing aids could benefit them. 

A huge financial burden has been lifted for a group of Saskatchewan residents who have significant hearing loss. The provincial government will now share in the cost of replacing cochlear hearing devices, an expense beyond the reach of many.

Born and raised in Dryden, the “high school sweethearts” moved away, initially to Ottawa, for education and work opportunities. Brendan McDonald studied audiology and eventually earned an AuD. Briana Lukinchuk became a Communication Disorders Assistant, which provides support for audiologists and speech-language pathologists.
