A dozen malls across Massachusetts and New Hampshire are hosting job fairs on Wednesday and Thursday as more than 100 businesses try to fill vacant positions.Stores and restaurants with open positions include Sephora, Forever 21, American Eagle and Starbucks, according to Simon Malls, which operates the malls. The job fairs are being held from 11 a.m. through 2 p.m. and from 5 p.m. through 7 p.m. on both days.Participating malls include:Auburn MallBurlington MallCape Cod MallLiberty Tree MallThe Mall of New HampshireThe Mall at Rockingham ParkNorthshore MallPheasant Lane MallSolomon Pond MallSouth Shore PlazaSquare One MallShops at Chestnut HillShopping mall retailers are hardly the only businesses struggling to hire sufficient staff. Massachusetts lifted all pandemic-related business restrictions more than a week ago, but "help wanted" signs are everywhere. For example, the owner of Darryl's Corner Bar and Kitchen on Boston's Columbus Avenue said she doesn't have sufficient staff to allow the restaurant to fully open the outdoor and indoor dining spaces."We still have limited hours but cannot expand our hours yet. We can't necessarily expand our days. We used to be open six days a week, now we're open five," said Nia Grace, owner of Darryl's.
