The board decided to have a special called meeting for budget approval May 8 and approved a Sullivan County mowing company for 15 school campuses starting immediately, except West Ridge High to start July. It also voted to sell the Henry Harr Road house at auction, this time in a sealed bid auction.
The Sullivan County Board of Education approved bidding that project, expected to cost about $1.3 million, din a 7-0 vote Thursday. The board also approved various other capital projects.
The property at 899 Henry Harr Road, one acre with a house and garage and another mostly vacant, will have a two-day online auction soon, the Sullivan County Board of Education decided March 7.
The school system unsuccessfully tried to sell the property with an online auction last year, deciding to relist it that way year after a potential land swap fell through.
An estimated cost from a architectural firm is $11.2 million, but a tie-in with the existing football stadium could increase the price, school officials said.
