Middle Georgia’s first African American Head of Reference, Herbert Tuggle, was honored and remembered at a dedication ceremony on Wednesday for his contributions to African American history at the Washington Memorial Library.
Washington Memorial Library honored Herbert Tuggle in ceremony dedicating its African American book collection to him.
“I started to realize that things were being lost,” said Muriel Jackson, head of the library’s African American History Committee.
Established in 1923, Washington Memorial was the first free public library in Macon.
