The demand for high-density apple orchards is surging due to disruptions in traditional apple supplies from Himachal Pradesh, driven by floods. While high-density orchards offer significant benefits in yield and fruit quality, growers should not expect constant high prices. Despite initial challenges, more orchards are converting to high-density, with 2023 expected to be a substantial year. However, challenges remain, such as the lack of local high-density nurseries. Some growers are experimenting with grafting high-yield varieties onto traditional rootstocks, offering an alternative to completely replacing traditional orchards. Emotions and generational conflicts also play a role in resisting change.
Baramulla,July 31 (Scoop News)- The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog), Parameswaran Iyer today paid visit to Baramulla district to get first hand appraisal of various development indicators and parameters identified under centrally sponsored “Aspirational Districts” programme besides reviewing implementation of other schemes in the district Baramulla and Kupwara.

JAMMU : A three day online Annual Zonal Workshop of Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVK)s for 2020-21 under ICAR-ATARI, Zone-I started today.
The workshop has been organized with the objective to review the work carried out by KVKs of Zone-1 during the previous year and approval of an action plan for the year 2021-22.
The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. T. Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & DG (ICAR), New Delhi who was Chief Guest, on the occasion. Dr. B.S. Dhillon, Former Vice Chancellor, PAU, Ludhiana was Guest of Honour. Prof. J. P. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu and SKUAST-Kashmir in his opening remarks stressed upon patenting of technologies developed by SKUAST-Jammu. He said that KVKs and Research stations are contributing to the development of the agricultural system and it is appreciated at all levels.
