Healthcare providers are still feeling the effects of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine mix-up which was reported by the Pennsylvania Department of Health last month.
Highlands Health Clinic in Johnstown has given 300 first doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, but recently 200 of those patients recently had their 2nd dose appointments postponed. Even though new patients are still receiving their first dose of the vaccine- leaving many confused. Highlands Health executive director, Rosalie Danchanko explains why this is happening.
“We have gotten a direct from the state department of health where they said that we were to postpone the second doses and administer the first doses to individuals. Their thinking was that individuals need to be vaccinated at least once to protect them against the COVID disease,” said Danchanko.
