33.5K vaccinated in Zambo City on Day 1 of nat'l vax days

FREE RIDE. Residents of Guisao, Zamboanga City, disembark from a village vehicle that provides free rides to encourage more people to get vaccinated on Tuesday (Nov. 30, 2021), the second day of the three-day national vaccination campaign. Some 33,587 residents were vaccinated on Monday (Nov. 29), which was lower than the city's 38,992 daily target. (Photo courtesy of Zamboanga City PIO) ZAMBOANGA CITY - Almost 34,000 residents got vaccinated against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) on the first day of the nationwide vaccination drive here on Monday, although the figure is still a little short of the city's daily target. This prompted Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar on Tuesday to reiterate her call for residents here to unite in the battle against Covid-19 and get themselves vaccinated. Salazar made the call as this city fell short of its target to vaccinate 38,992 individuals daily in the ongoing three-day National Vaccination Days. Data from the city health office showed that 33,587 were vaccinated Monday - the first day of the November 29 to December 1 National Vaccination Days - which is 5,405 short of the 38,992 target vaccination. "Let us unite to show our strength as a city in the fight against Covid-19," Salazar said. "Get vaccinated so that we will have a happy Christmas," she added. The city health office said 29,254 of the 33,587 total vaccinees received their first dose, while 4,333 got their second doses. A total of 52 vaccination centers here were opened during the first day of the mass immunization drive slated to culminate on Wednesday. The conduct of the "Bayanihan, Bakunahan" vaccination campaign is pursuant to Proclamation 1253 that President Rodrigo Duterte signed on November 24. The three-day activity caters to both pediatric and adult individuals. Meanwhile, some of the barangays in the city have provided a free ride to and from the vaccination centers Tuesday to encourage more people to get inoculated. (PNA) }

(Photo courtesy of BOC) MANILA - The Bureau of Customs (BOC) on Friday seized some PHP8.6 million worth of party drugs concealed in three shipments in Pasay City. In a statement, the bureau reported that two of the packages contained a total of 4,547 pieces of ecstasy tablets that arrived at the Central Mail Exchange Center and FedEx warehouse. A total of 100 pieces of ecstasy tablets were found on the first shipment with an estimated street value of PHP170,000, while 4,447 tablets worth PHP7.6 million were discovered on the second shipment.
