The victim was transported to Hilo Medical Center for treatment of a substantial laceration to her head and concussion following the early morning incident. She was released several hours later.
The search warrant also led to the arrest of a 45-year-old man.
Puna Man Indicted for Felony Assault and Abuse Charges
Stanton A. Joaquin of Mountain View turned himself in April 1 and was able to post an additional required bail. He was released from custody and will make his initial court appearance Friday.
A 31-year-old man from Puna is now charged with felony assault, abuse, and endangering the welfare of a minor.
