Hartford passes $584 million budget that will increase police officer pay, add 24 new city positions

Hartford’s city council approved a $584 million, no-tax increase budget for the upcoming fiscal year, a 2.85% increase that will raise pay for police officers and add 24 new positions across the city.
The body voted 7-2 in favor of the 2022 budget on Monday evening, with Working Families Party council members Wildaliz Bermudez and Joshua Michtom opposing. It increases spending by 2.85%.
The pay increases are being reviewed by a city council committee and must be approved by both council and the Hartford Police Union membership before they can take effect. ....
