Central Cass stays perfect with 59-58 win at Kindred

By Holden Mitchell
KINDRED – Two of North Dakota’s best high school girls’ basketball teams squared off in what ended up being very much a back-and-forth match-up. In the end, it was the Central Cass Squirrels that edged out the Kindred Vikings with a 59-58 victory.
For the Squirrels (8-0 overall), they were led by guard Rylie Holzer and guard Victoria Richter who each had 11 points. Right behind them was forward Decontee Smith and guard Morgan Lee with 10 points each. One of the biggest differences in the game was how well Central Cass shot at the free-throw line. Kindred went 8 for 10 at the line whereas Central Cass went a whopping 15 for 22.

Maple Valley Defeats Enderlin in Season Opener

By Holden Mitchell
ENDERLIN – The Maple Valley Raiders begun their 2020 season on the road but that proved to be no problem as they leave with a 47-36 win over the Enderlin Eagles.
For the Raiders (1-0), they really controlled the pace of this game as they were leading for most of the night. Forward Courtney Hovelson was a big reason for that as she had a game-high 15 points. Guard Chloe Wetch also had a nice game finishing with 11 points and made some nice plays in transition as well.
As for the Eagles (0-1), guard Katelyn Tingley led the team with 13 points including a couple of three-pointers. Guard Raelee Bartholomay finished the night right behind her with 11 points. Guard Kaylie Schlecht played well in the second half making two three-pointers but this ended up not being enough for her squad to get the win.
