Q. My wife and I are both first-time buyers and we are looking to buy our first home as soon as possible. We have good, steady jobs and have been trying to save a deposit for years but we’re struggling to save enough as our rent is €1,500pm. We recently heard that there are a couple of schemes to help people in our situation but keep getting different information and advice. Can you please tell us what schemes are available and how they work in simple terms?
