CANTON â Dedicated employees from SUNY Cantonâs One-Hop Shop Student Service Center have advanced their careers. Heather Adner was recently hired for the director of financial aid position following a vacancy left by Kerrie L. Cooper who retired after a 28-year career with SUNY Canton. âHeather has grown tremendously since she has been at SUNY Canton,â Cooper said. âShe was ready to be director. I am very pleased to see that happen.â Adner, who resides in Norwood, originally joined the financial aid field as a student worker at SUNY Potsdam in 1993 while working on her bachelorâs degree. She continued working in financial aid when she graduated in 1997. Adner began her career at SUNY Canton in 2007 as a senior financial aid advisor and received two promotions during her time at the college.

Mussen, Rensselaer Falls, has become an example of the career mobility available for promising employees at SUNY Canton, most recently moving to the role of administrative assistant in the One Hop Shop Student Service Center. She began working for the College Association in 2012 as a maintenance staff and delivery person. She s also been a food service employee at Roos Court in MacArthur Hall, and a cleaner for the Physical Plant. She became a provisional office assistant in the One Hop Shop Student Service Center in 2016, earning permanent status and a promotion within the following year.
