Election Day voting El Paso school board elections

El Pasoans will choose who will help shape the future of two school districts Saturday in EPISD and SISD school board elections.
Ballots cast in El Paso s polling stations will carry extra weight in this election, where two school board elections will decide more than half the makeup of trustees on each board. There are 17 candidates competing for four seats in the EPISD race and 11 candidates vie for four seats in the SISD race.
Because EPISD uses a majority election system instead of plurality, the race could end in a runoff. In a majority vote, a candidate must win more than 50% of the total vote to win or the election goes to a runoff with the top two candidates. SISD uses a plurality vote. ....

Final El Paso early voting statistics show low voter turnout

As of Tuesday, the final day of early voting, 2.24% of registered voters had cast their ballots, according to early voting statistics for El Paso’s May general election.
There were 3,122 ballots mailed out and 2,051 ballots returned. Combined with the daily total of 2,819 as of April 27, this adds up to 4,870 total votes cast out of 217,404 registered voters in El Paso County.
The highest turnout of early votes as of April 27 were cast at Grandview Park Senior Citizen Center, with 374 votes cast; Chayo Apodaca Community Center, with 340; and Arlington Park Shelter, with 286.
The outcome of the May election will determine who will fill more than half of trustee seats on the El Paso Independent School District s school board, as well as the Socorro ISD s school board. ....

As of April 24, less than 2% of registered voters had cast their ballots, according to early voting statistics for El Paso’s May general election.
There were 3,122 ballots mailed out and 1,934 ballots returned. Combined with the daily total of 1,811 as of April 24, this adds up to 3,745 total votes cast out of 217,404 registered voters in El Paso County, as of Saturday, April 24.
The highest turnout of early votes as of April 24 were cast at Grandview Park Senior Citizen Center, with 224 votes; the Chayo Apodaca Community Center, with 205; and the Oz Glaze Senior Center, with 139, according to early voting statistics.
