The Milwaukee Bucks and hotel developer North Central Group announced that the 205-room Marriott Autograph Collection hotel under development across from Fiserv Forum will be known as “The Trade Milwaukee.”
The name builds on what Middleton-based North Central has teased for months: a brand that honors “the calloused hands that built Milwaukee” and the city’s history as a fur trading post.
In a video shown to attendees at a Wednesday morning press conference, high-energy music was played over images of people building the city while clips of ....

Twenty stained glass windows continue to complicate the redevelopment of the former Humphrey Scottish Rite Masonic Center.

A 2017 plan to turn the historically-protected, three-story building into a hotel, with a 14-story addition, was approved with the caveat that three of the stained glass windows remain in place and the other 17 be displayed in the hotel’s common areas. That plan never advanced to construction, but Ascendant Holdings acq ....

A new building permit application submitted to the city reveals a change in course for the future of the Humphrey Scottish Rite Masonic Center, 790 N. Van Buren St.
Ascendant Holdings introduced a plan in 2016 to build a hotel tower atop the three-story building. But those plans, ultimately approved in late 2017 to include a 14-story tower with 215 rooms, haven’t advanced to construction. ....
